| Dawnann how many resets do you have for the FDs? Seriously, they really should pay more.... I'd rater do 100 Dail Signs! Can't wait to do the DG stores. At least we don't have to box up old stock! |

| I only have two Family Dollar stores so there's one left to do, next week. There's no partner for that one either. I'm sooooooooo glad they weren't scheduled for the same week. |

| I did my first FD compaction today & only have one other, week after next. In between & after are the DG compactions. Luckily I have help for both FDs. It wasn't complicated but it is physically draining. We had a huge amount of new product boxes to open up & stock & also a huge amount of old product to find a place for. We ran out of room & the mngr didn't want it in her backroom so she had us line it up on the floor & we still had a cart full left. She said leave that for her & she would find a place for it. We only had 1 1/2 empty endcaps for the old stuff as that is all the room she had. (it is an older, small & very crowded store) Thanks to the person who said to cut an X in the bottom of the boxes. That worked like a dream. Everybody, you need to do this so you break those boxes down. |

| O.K. I just did my 9th FD reset today. The best thing to use to open these boxes is a small pry bar. It's almost like cutting through butter. I hope the DG's are a lot faster cause I now have 5 extra stores slated for next week. Thanks Dawnann for the X tip! Whew!! I think Driveline should send us to the spa after this job. I'm beat! |

| APerreault how do you have so many D.G.'s and F.D.'s?I can only have a total of 5 between the two chains. I was told this was true for all reps. My DM pulled 3 D.G.'s and 1 F.D. from me a year or so ago as the compainy didn't allow us to have more than 5. Just wondering. |

Once again, if anyone that deals with my schedule is reading...I'm still on medical leave. Lots of calls today for me to work this week.
I have not been to the doctor for a post op checkup yet, heck, I am not even allowed to bend over, do any type of housework or pick anything up over 10 pds..much less work. I'm still off for the next 2-4 weeks, depends on what my doctor says upon checking me out...
Not trying to be rude, but I'm being contacted every two weeks by 6-10 field support people to go back to work. Takes time to heal up from a major operation. |

I am so frustrated in general with this company right now. I recently had a huge increase in hours (and paid mileage AND drive time) with another company that I have been with for 3+ years now. I told my DM in March that April 1st I was going to have to leave. Well she kept assigning everything to me. I agreed to work the stuff for April but that as of May 1st I just wouldn't be able to do it anymore. She said ok. Then, guess what, more work for May just kept piling on. So I ignored it at first but then I get an email about late plans. I replied that I had told her it was a no-go after May 1st but that if she honestly didn;t have anyone else, I could keep 3 of my Dollar Generals FOR NOW. She said thanks! Then again with the email about late plans and what was going on etc etc.... OMG.. I don't know what else to do now!!!
Ok.. All done... I guess I will complete what I can and let her deal with the late plans. |

| Lelia I feel so bad for you! I can't beleive your DM isn't tring to get coverage for your stores. I thought mine was bad... VickieLynn: the reason I'm doing so many is because I'm working w/ 1 of the area coodinators. We used to have the same DM & she told her I was the only 1 she wants to partner with. Plus we are without a lot of coverage in this area right now. My DM called while I was in the feild & wanted me to cover 2 stores cause someone just quit. The area person has 42 stores cause she covers a 50 mile radius. When people don't do their jobs or quit : she goes in. I still have a 9 combo. but again I travel 30 miles either way. Beleive me I would be fine w/ 5 if I could get the stores in my town. My husband just came home & said he paid 3.75 for gas!!! I paid 3.59 yesterday! UGH!!!! |

I didn't have a lot of problems putting up the Fathers'Day cards for DG. After I figured out the new "POG" system. On one of the pages it shows the column #, the category & how many of each card headers go in that column from top to bottom. For example 3 religious, 6 anyone, 5 humorous, etc;I was looking for the old POG with the columns & card spots all pictured out like they used to be. The ID cards are still in order & I used the reference sheet to place the cards. If you take a stack out & look up the first one, put it in place, than see if the next one goes up the column or down, the others follow & you don't have to look at each one. I had 2 of the "Daddy" card packs missing so I have 2 empty spaces. They sent a dbl order of 2 other card packs instead. What I don't like is they shortened the time to 90 minutes for the switch out & that is not enough time. Also the first few times after the reset it took a lot longer than 90 minutes to straighten up the rack & stock it. I just let it slide but I think I'm going to stop working for "free" for this company if they keep cutting back our allowed time on this stuff. I mean 15 min & 30 min to check out the bras & socks including updating on the handheld just doesn't work. It takes that long to just use the HHT.
I was in the FD today that I am doing the compaction in next week & reminded the asst. mngr. that I would be in next week to do this & basically what we would be doing. I had already discussed this with the mngr. last week so he is aware of what is going on. Weeell, the AM says to me Oh,----- has already put the new product out becuase he doesn't like anything sitting in the back room! Of course, it is all in the wrong places for the new POG but I wish he hadn't done that. I appreciate the help but I can't seem to make these guys realize that when they do my job I lose money & this is exactly what I told the asst. today. Any of you have this problem? I'm still expecting them to get more new product but this guy didn't seem to think they would. He has also put up some of the new signage, specifically on an end cap. So I say Okay we will use this one for the new product since the sign is already here but we need some place to put the old product. This guy is just not hearing this. He keeps saying things like: Oh, you won't have much old product. We'll find someplace for it in the flex area. And when I showed him some of the newer product that had been place on the shelves already & that need to be moved to the 2x endcap he tells me the regular shelves have to be full before anything can be moved to an end cap. I'm dreading next week already. Another thing I told him we would probably be in on Thur. He tells me that is a bad day because it is truck day. I understand that but my helper & I have other things to do & that is the only day we can get together for this store. So he wants me to call before I come in & see if the truck has been there yet. That won't work. I can't be calling him off & on all day to check on the truck's arrival & expect my helper to just sit by the phone, waiting for the go ahead. Then jump in the car & drive 30-45 min to the store at a moment's notice. I don't know what I am going to do about that. |

| Gayle, do what we did last week:tell him it will be possibly next week before you can get back to him. You are booked solid! I think alot of them put stuff out to keep it out of their rooms. That just creates more work for us. I did 3 DGs today & I feel just as bad as the FD resets. Not to mention they are missing alot of product & apparently deleting alot too! Those gravity fed things are a huge pain. At least you didn't have a call about wearing jeans and not leaving a 3 ply. First thing this morning she nails me & says I didn't leave it last week. I pointed out to her that she didn't have a 3 ply so I used a generic & had to call in for RA#. She hands me the envelope & says here it's not there. I pulled it out & went through it. Sure enough it was just where I left it! Before I left her GM showed up. She asked me if I was going to call Field support & tell them I found it. Right in front of the GM I said NO!: you can call & tell them I found it for you right where it always is! She also mentioned needing to clean the laundry so I held up my hands & said it was overdue. Have fun y'all! |

I'm getting really frustrated. I'm going around in circles. I've spoken to ALL of my DM's (even those who have filled in for my regular DM's) via phone AND email...as well as all of the people from Driveline Field Support. I am wondering if they do not communicate with each other, or if any notes are being made at all about my situation.
I had another phone call after I posted here and an email. They are now calling the stores on me because it is being reported I've not serviced the stores in 3 weeks. My job performance is down to 60%. To be honest, I'm afraid I'm about to lose my job. Especially the way I was talked to yesterday. Very stern, very annoyed and wanting to know an exact date of my return.
These things are beyond my control. |

Gayle R, I'm unsure about your area of the country but I know here in Central NY the managers in D.G. have to get everything out of their back room within 48 hours of their truck delivering it. If a Distric manager comes in and they don't have all their truck out they can be wrote up. I know I will be moving alot of new product from place to place because of this.

I did 3 card switchouts today and like Gayle, all my stuff was in order and really easy to do.
I think when I was doing the compaction resets, the DG managers were told they could go ahead and put the product out. I don't remember having to move it that much. It was my FDs that were told to leave the stuff alone. I also found the DG compactions about 10 times easier to do. |

Lelia, have you ever got ahold of your territory manager (your DM's boss)? This is just awful. What bothers me is this extra stress isn't helping you to heal at all. It could prolong the time it's taking you to get back to work just from all the grief. |

Vicki, my problem is with Family Dollar, not DG. DG does already have their new product on the shelves & that is the way it is supposed to be, but the memo that FD & I got specifically says "Do not stock the new product as Driveline employees are being paid to do this" And AP I DID tell him I was booked all week except for Thur. and that is pretty much true as we are juggling 2 schedules (mine & my helper's) to do this.
Leilia, have you tried contacting your regional manager. I don't think they can legally fire or penalize you (low completion rate or late stores)for being sick, especially since they were notified in plenty of time & more than once. You don't need this stress, it can't be beneficial to your healing. I think it is time to put your foot down & let them know if they continue to harrass and/or threaten you, they will be hearing from your lawyer. (Check out your rights first though) This is so maddening.
I always heard things should be in writing. Maybe write a letter to company headquarters explaining everything in detail with the date you notified them, expected date of return, etc; If you can get your DM's address send a copy; or scan & e-mail it to her/him and a copy to the RM too & anybody else you can think of. Let them know you are upset about this. They should have assigned somebody to cover your stores whilw you were out. I know of 2 seperate cases in this area where the rep. was hospitalized & the stores were covered by other reps in the area. |

I'm just curious if anyone who works for Driveline gets paid mileage? One of the DG's I do work at is about 35 miles round trip for me and I usually only go there once a week for 1 hour...to do their weekly cards. It is never enough time and I find myself getting frustrated for taking 2 hrs every week but now the price of gas is $3.89 a gallon and I wonder if it is worth it? Also, are we supposed to get compensated for all the paper and printer cartridges we go thru in printing out our assignments? I have to replace printer cartridges every week! I just dont know if this job is worth it any more. I dont know how to figure out mpg but it sure seems like I'm spending more than I'm receiving.... |

| I was told no a few times from several different sources. It does not cost anything to ask. Can't you find some shops to do along the way? |

| SJeanine, Our 6 month bonus money is meant to help reimburse us for our ink, paper, etc. Unless specifically told by your DM, we are not reimbursed for mileage or drive time unless you are an AC who helps the DM out by traveling around completeing late plans left by other merchandisers. But I have heard even the AC's have to fight to get reimbursement for their promised gas and drive time! |
