I haven't been getting them for PS Greetings. I ordered 3 times and still nothing..so the last time I serviced, I didn't order. I figure when they do come in, it'll be three orders of the same exact thing

Whew! Glad it isn't just me with the FD cards. I was starting to think I was daft or something!

I'm having the same problem with PS greetings. Gallant is all right except for the fact that sometimes the numbers don't match up like they should in the 13R stores. I think that reset is really screwed up.

I noticed the week of the switchout in FD that only one of my stores have everyday cards to stock. The rest just had the tissue, giftbags and invites.
Lelia,I don't order the same cards that I ordered within the last two visits again. Because as you said you may end up with several orders coming in at the same time of the same thing. An then you would have overstuffed pockets.

I have a new DM - he seems fairly nice. I emailed him when we were first notified that he was training with our DM and welcomed him and let him know I was new too. Then - I dropped him an email later on about a brand new FD in our area and said that if it didn't go to someone else - I'd love to have it since it is between some of my stores. He called back and said it was already given to someone else.

ANYWAY....he called me today and asked me how I was doing for hours this week and if I had time to go to another town 50 miles away to complete some projects that must be done by tomorrow (they're overdue but they will still count if I do them tomorrow). Two of them are FD card resets...another one is a 3 hour job and then an audit in a Radio Shack. He said he'd authorize pay for mileage from my house to the stores (and back) and also my drive time.

He also asked me if I would be willing to pick up some work in those stores for up to a month (if needed) as he's not sure the person is due to be on sick leave.

I told him that I'd do it....

Has anyone else ever been offered mileage/drive time AND received it? I'm a bit nervous about this as my gas there and back will be about $20....but there is about 8 hours of work so I'll still be making money...

I really like him a lot and I took it on (even though tomorrow was going to be busy) because I wanted to show I could be a team player and help out. As I told him, I'm able to move tomorrow's work till Thursday and I won't be over my 20 hours...

From my conversations/emails with this DM - I like him. I hope we keep him for a while...

Yes, I have received mileage and drivetime on occasion.
be sure to report a plan and a confirmation number to your dm for the furthest town.
Good luck.
They don't pay you usually for twenty miles going or coming back...but report all the miles...the company pays from zip code to zip code...
so keep track. And like I said...report the total mileage...and drivetime...they will take care of it...

So far - I really like my new DM.

I get in the store - after driving an hour to get there - only to have the manager say to me, "The girl just came in and did it this morning...".

I call home and get my DM's phone number and call him - only to have him say to me, "I just called you at home. She called me today and said she did it and she has a new phone number and gave it to me..".

After what happened to me yesterday - I was FURIOUS. (I drove 70 miles to do a reset for $180 only to find out the store manager had made the dept. manager do it the day before - AFTER I'd called and scheduled it already...and now that company wants to offer me only $50 for 3 hours driving and 155 miles - plus I'd brought a helper).

Anyway - my manager told me he'd STILL pay me for the drive time and mileage - and to check her work (she really did a horrid job and that was another part of why I called him - there were cards left behind along with envelopes and the signage wasn't up right). I did the other assignment I had to do in that store - plus went to the other FD which looked a little bit better - plus I went to the Radio Shack he gave me an audit in.

So he's going to pay me for my drive times and mileage (and the plans I was able to work) and I will pick up her territory for this coming month while she's ill (he'll continue to pay me for drive time and mileage he said).

Of course, I'll believe it when I see it - but I suspect this may be one DM who will go to bat for his employees...I hope.

Its been a while since I worked for Archway/Driveline; but when I did work for them I had 1 store I worked I was paid for my mileage/drivetime. I was offered a flat rate to cover my drive and mileage. I was always paid for it.

I was offered drive time and mileage to help out in another state but I did not have the time. I have never had a problem getting paid by DL.

I have a great DM!!

Has anyone done the Gatorade stuff yet in DG? Have the stores already been set to planogram? I'm doing that next week (but I'm going to take a look at my stores when I'm in them tomorrow).

Also - I spoke with my DM today about what he needs me to do in the FD's next week in that other gal's territory to cover for her...break my heart...I have to do biweekly card service in 4 FD's. (I already have 12 hours of my own stores scheduled for next week). I mean...wow....such HARD work....(Can you tell I really enjoy the cards??).

I don't know if I told y'all - but I got down to the other town to do the seasonal switchout at two FDs and she had run in and done them that morning and called him to let him know. But she didn't do a great job - and I took a photo of the signage with my cell phone to show him the type of work she did (she didn't remove the old signage and it wasn't totally covered by the new signage either).

Anyway - just wondering how the Gatorade project is - I've got two of them scheduled for next week....

The gatorade project is not too hard..some of them are done..some are not.
however just a word of advice. Be VERY careful about running down a former employee...any where...to anyone...it can and does backfire on you.
Trust me.
try to be positive and approach things from a positive viewpoint if at all possible.

Thank you for pointing that out to me - some things that I saw made me wonder if she could read planograms and I wasn't sure whether or not she was a new employee. As I told my manager when I sent him the photo...I just thought he might want to go over a couple of things with her that I saw....for future reference. (I don't want her territory - its 60 miles away - but I'm helping out for this one month since she is ill).

I guess I'm one of those people who wants to take pride in my work at the end of the day - and to see the slipshod job...just irked me.

But I will be careful.

Peg someone could also go to one of your stores after you and say you didn't do a great job.Maybe the person didn't know about removing signage, they should have known but I'm just saying. What else did the person do besides not removing the signage that made it not a great job. Personally I would not have taken a picture and sent it to the DM . Since you were asked to do the job you could have just fixed what need to be done and reported that.

Well - when I went to the first store (FD) - the display was not set correctly. She had put old product on the display and put the new product (a portion of it) on clip strips (instead of vice versa).

The area was not straightened up - and by that - I mean there were a few Father's Day cards and a bunch of envelopes and stuff laying around on another display. Some of it was the stuff that goes behind the cards that gives the prices, etc. (I understand she could have laid it down and forgotten about it).

The signage wasn't up correctly - and I forget what else there was...

When I had first talked to my DM about this - or sometime during the conversation(s) - I am thinking he asked me to not only do this but to check on the stores. I forget exactly what he said - and I could be wrong.

Anyway - I took the picture with my cell phone (a spur of the moment thing) because it just bothered me so much - and the manager would not let me change it because I am not the "regular" girl and the manager speaks Spanish only - no English (or little) and I couldn't get her to understand what I was doing.

It isn't as if this is something I normally go around doing...honest. It just...well - it bothered me - but I also wanted to cover my own rear about this since the one manager wouldn't let me take down the sign. I do agree though that I shouldn't have sent it to the DM....

Thanks for pointing that out folks. Once again - this isn't something I normally do - and it is in a territory 60 miles away.

I'll be more careful in the future to keep my thoughts to myself when I go in to cover someone...

Peg, I completely understand, believe me.

There's a store I've seen that is a wreck. It used to just drive me up the wall. I finally figured out that (1) I'm too busy to mess with another store right now (2) it's the store manager's/DM's problem (3) I don't get paid enough to worry about someone else's stuff (4) Not everyone is as anal (over the top anal) as I am!

I've been thinking about this and I think that maybe I should share a bit more (lest I seem like a horrible person to y'all).

My DM called me on Monday about going down to do 3 stores. I had another job on Tuesday but rearranged my schedule to go down on Wednesday. He told me that he'd tried to get in touch w/ this gal but her number had been disconnected and we agreed that if the plan wasn't reported by Tuesday night - I'd head down there.

On Wednesday morning - I got to the store a little after 10 am (I had some work to do here in my town) - only to have the manager say to me "she was just in here this morning and did it..". I felt like a fool. I went back and looked at the display and found the disorder it was in.

I called my DM to see what he wanted me to do - should I go ahead and do the second plan in that store since the manager didn't know what she had done? Should I head to the next store? What should I do?

My DM asked me to take a look at the display and I said, "I'm here and I'm going to straighten it up - even if I don't get paid for it - because I don't want to leave the store with it like this..". He asked me what I meant and I explained about the cards being left out (I put them in her backstock area) and about the fact that new product was clipstripped in with the other products and some of the older product was put on this display. I then said to him, "I don't want to be mean - but is it possible that she doesn't know how to read a planogram?"

Please understand - my DM is brand new....he's been with us like 2 weeks I've been with the company 3 weeks - but I have four years of experience at merchandising. My thoughts were (and my voice was not angry when I said this) - "maybe she needs a bit of help in reading planograms?"

As I was talking to him, I noticed that the new signage didn't completely cover up the old signage and I mentioned it to him. He THANKED me for letting him know and said that when this gal came back to work - he'd do a bit of coaching with her to see if she understood about planograms, etc.

When I went to the second store and the manager wouldn't let me fix the signage because she didn't understand English and I wasn't the regular gal (who had just been in there that day) - I figured I better cover my own rear. If my manager sent someone else into the store to check and saw the sign was left like that - I didn't want to be in trouble.

So I took the picture of the signage (a spur of the moment thing) and let my DM know that I was not allowed to remove the old signage since the manager didn't know me.

My whole point in talking to my DM about this not to get her in trouble - but it was to cover my rear (in the case of the signage) adn to suggest that she might need a bit of coaching as far as planograms. I thought maybe she was a new employee and didn't know how to read them - and to be honest with you - since I'm in a little hick town and my manager is probably quite a ways off - I was going to offer to show her how to read a planogram if that was needed.

I guess I more or less vented to y'all cause I felt it was a "safe" place to vent...

I hope that helps everyone understand where I was coming from and why I did what I did.
