Yikes! It's already 90 and it's only 1030am.

I was planning to put in the vegetable garden this week.

Maybe I should just plant

Beautiful Sat. 70's & sunny. Got a lot of yard work done. Sunday started out good then got breezy & chilly. Rain today & thunderstorms at the moment with real downpoours.

It is raining and nasty here. The lightning is awful. My dogs dont like that at all and keep getting under my desk while I am trying to work. I have an audit this afternoon and I sure hope it clears up a bit so I dont arrive looking like a wet dish rag!

Weather cooled down, about 68 today and a little gloomy. That's cool for L.A.

Yesterday afternoon about 2 pm it was 104 and briefly reached 105. I think the heat index was about 112. If you ever hear anyone say that Houston is the hottest place on earth, believe it. There's a saying, "Houston has 4 seasons, summer, summer, summer, and August."

We still have August to face and I am really afraid of what it will be like. I expect my electric bill to be in excess of $600. I have a house, 1800 sq feet. $600 is if we watch the theromostat and keep it at 78. If I turned it down, I would expect $800 to $1000.

Juanita, don't feel too bad - those of us in the Dallas area are dying too. Today the thermometer on my car registered 105 about 2 pm. It's been about that hot all week, with the heat index yesterday of 110.

And I have to be out in this stuff doing a merchandising job that has me going from the car to a store and back again all over town. I finally realized I can't work past about 1 pm without risking heat exhaustion.

Like you, I'm really afraid for August; that's usually our hottest month.

Cari & Juanita...You need to travel to North Texas to get the 'real' Texas heat....we've been having 108/109 days here.....W. Falls.

If I have errands to run, I get out and back before noon! Then, I stay holed up inside...so thankful for a/c, which runs almost continuously.......hope it holds up for the duration

I certainly feel for everyone in Texas. The last few days in Georgia have been unbelievably beautiful and rare. It has felt like fall and was almost too cold to swim Sunday (although the sunbathing was perfect). I hope August isn't 100 here!

Here in WI., we had a VERY fall like weekend, only got into the 60's! Monday it was a bit nicer, at least we saw the sun, temps in the middle 70's. Today, we have another cool day, we were hoping for rain, but, it wont make it this far. We have had one day of 90 degree temps so far this summer. No need for air conditioning this season, which doesnt hurt our feelings, but, one could almost turn the furnace on at night, due to lows being in the low to mid range of 50 degrees. We dont envy any of you that live in constant 100 degree weather, but, darn it, we sure would love to see the sun more than we have.It isnt even good swimming weather around here.

My highest bill got to $400 which was bad enough. I just signed a new contract with my electric provider and my rate is 30% lower than it was. My bill I just received was only $93.00. I can live with that.

We will have a few months of reasonable weather.

On Friday Houston had SNOW. And a lot of it for a while. It actually collected a couple of inches. This is probably a once-in-100-year occurrence. It is still pretty chilly outside.

Juanita, we had snow flurries. You could see it coming down, but it melted on impact and there was not enough to even make the ground damp. However, yesterday we had freezing rain and sleet--again in small quantities, but enough to wet the ground.

Today was significantly warmer. Maybe by next week we will be back to our balmy winter.

Real winter seems to have arrived here in Billings, Montana. It was -4 when I left for my regular job at 8:45 this morning, and on the 10PM news, temp was given at -21 with wind chill taken into consideration. Supposed to be up to a whopping 32 degrees by NEXT Monday! Received some snow as well, maybe 3 inches or so in the part of town where I live.

Linda, I do not miss living in the colder climes. It is amazing how the folk down here just don't understand what real cold is. I sure wish I was one of them!!

It is cold, cold, cold -- 15F on my way to work this morning. At least it is dry and sunny, something we're not used to in the winter
