I completed my first hotel shop for Freeman in late October 2011 and I received payment via Paypal today! Very impressive!

If you need a hotel and are going to be paying for one anyway, go for it. It takes quite a time to get reimbursed, but "eventually" is better than the "never" it is if it's not a shop.

So know Private Eyes is scheduling these shops. Are they going to ensure that shoppers get paid for them????

I know! what is up with that? I received the email from Private saying "We are now scheduling" and then down at the bottom in the tiny print it says "the freeman group". I thought Freeman scheduled their own shops. I don't know, this may benefit everyone.

How will it benefit anyone? Scheduling companies claim no responsibility when the company doesn't pay. See previous non paying companies and how quickly the scheduling company said not my problem.

I think all of you forgot to read the big bold print. "make a route" WHAT? they want me to invest a ton of money to not get paid? I actually think this is getting to be lawsuit time.

Hello, shoppers.

Let me first apologize for my long-winded reply. I hadn't realized that when I began to type, I would have so much to say on this topic.

I was just advised of the mention of Private Eyes in this thread by a shopper already involved in this topic.
We began scheduling these shops for the Freeman Group at the beginning of March when the previous in-house scheduler was dismissed. With that, there seemed to have been a void of communication with the previous scheduler's shops and agreements with shoppers, as I've already been flooded with emails stating that their inquiries were never responded to.

Private Eyes is not just a scheduling service, but we also specialize in management, and that was one of the reasons the Freeman Group contracted us.

I appreciate the concern mentioned above, and this is certainly not the first I've heard of it.

Back when I was a full-time shopper, I shopped for them too, and it did take a while to get paid, but I did get paid. Additionally, some of the shoppers that have expressed their concerns to me when we began scheduling for Freeman, have since been paid. While I will not take any credit for that, I do want it to be known that we are working feverishly to communicate any and all overdue payment inquiries, and/or concerns directly to the Freeman Group as we receive them. And, since working with them, many shoppers have received their pay, and Freeman Group has upped their payment terms to as soon as 8 weeks.

I would ask that everyone be aware of a few things...
1. The main reason for the delay seems to be a longer-than-usual return of the money owed to Freeman by their clients.
2. If they did not pay, there is no way that I would put myself and my scheduling team at risk of non-payment for all of our hard work.
3. I have personally had detailed, lengthy meetings with the executives at Freeman to surmise the situation, its impact on our scheduling efforts and their reputation, and they are currently putting methods in-place, and prioritizing this issue. I do feel that having an outside scheduling source is helping them be even more aware of the concern.
I am so very pleased with the results I've sen in this short time, and personally, have no doubt that this relationship will help everyone that feels their valid concerns have not been heard or rectified.

JeannieGA is correct in stating that "A scheduling company claims no responsibility when the company doesn't pay", but it's in that, they cannot; they have no association with payroll or client agreements/contracts. However, we have gone one step further than most to do our best to communicate, influence, and impress the dire need for this situation to be resolved.
Are we responsible for this situation? Of course not. But, we are very much doing our best to work with the good people at the Freeman Group to help both them and the shoppers. I understand that only time will tell, but I did want everyone to know that there is no foul play going on here. They are a solid company that I personally see making a true attempt to bring this topic to a close. We are doing our best, and so are they. We all hope that this gets turned around quickly and efficiently.

I do appreciate and understand everyone's concern. I hope that Private Eyes will be an influential force in getting this corrected, and of course, my most sincere goal is to see that all shoppers receive what is due to them ASAP. If you have not already done so, please email any and all concerns that you have to FreemanGroup@FreemanGroup.org.
They are truly working on this and they will respond.
:)

Out of nowhere, I got paid for a shop last June. Better late than never. I think now I would be willing to pick another one up.

Why?? It took them 9 months to pay for the shop and you would take another one? The only way I would if I was traveling personally and had to pay for a hotel and there was a chance??? I might get reimbursed.

Those who continue to take these shops with a hope of reimbursements is what keeps these non paying companies in business. If everyone boycotted them and they had no shoppers the company would have to switch to a reputable company.

Sorry I am a bit jaded being a mystery shopper for over 10 years. I shop very few companies these days because of the reimbursements. Go read old threads and see what we used to get paid. It was a fair wage in those days. Too many companies aren't paying fair wages.

As PrivateEyeLysa points out, this is a cash flow issue for this company. They are not getting paid by their client in a timely manner, and they are pushing their cash flows issues down to those that make their business successful. As you might ascertain, this affects their reputation and their ability to conduct business. In my view, it also impacts the scheduling company's reputation and their ability to conduct business. I have no beef with the scheduling company, but Freeman Group company is not honoring its contract with shoppers to remit payment within 10 - 12 weeks as advertised. Personally, Freeman Group owes me $1300+ and I'm tired of being their personal banker.

Too bad I can't tell my electric, oil, phone, etc., companies that I can't pay them yet because I haven't gotten paid. HA!

We are mystery shoppers NOT a bank. I don't know about you all but I am not licensed to give busineess loans, nor do I want to. Their cashflow issues should not be passed down to us. This is grossly unacceptable. Until they get their finances straight I will NOT shop for them.
