Cathy,

At least they have started the transfer in your area. We were told that the transfer would start in January and have been waiting since then.

I did it last April, kind of wish I hadn't. Now there is an hour cap, no OT, etc...

Tammy-

Glad that you're enjoying the new job.

How long is it taking you to do each store and what has your schedule been like??

Ann,

This week I finally hit the target. It takes me between 3 and 4 hours to complete each store. Some are faster than others. My schedule has been fine. I work a couple of days, have a day off, work another day, etc. I work 3 1\2 days per week. I knew going into this I would not have a set schedule...

How are things going with you? I hope you are liking it better! I'm really loving it! I think this may be the best job I've ever had.

Tammy,
We are working 2 stores a day Thurs thru Sunday. It is grueling. 8 stores in 4 consecutive days. I am doing a Supercenter in about 41/2 hours now. Almost all of mine are Supercenters. I'm trying to be positive but I am just so tired. So, your stores are spread out during the week? I wonder why it's different.

Have to get going...2 more today.

Ann, I'm sorry you are finding it grueling. I'm hoping that if you can hang in there long enough to remember what the products look like and where they are located, different store lay outs, etc., that it will get easier for you. Maybe it's just not your kind of job? Different strokes...

I find it easy now that I've gotten over that hump. I don't even run like a maniac through the store anymore. All but one of my stores is a super. You know there is a picture function, right? If you stick with it you'll pick up speed. I have a pretty good memory about things so I picked up speed quickly. But, I'm sure once you get it all set right in your head it'll fly by. At least, I hope so, for you.

Good Luck!!

Hey everybody, another Sparc team member here! Very cool to see other people doing the same job. I'm sure we can all help each other out. So far I love it. Best job ever :) The first day was kind of rough but now that I have the hang of it it's fantastic. I only wish they'd give me a couple more stores so I could do this full time. Look forward to chatting with you all!

Anybody know why they don't take taxes out of our mileage reimbursement?

I'm still tryng to figure out why when i drive by "their" map way, my mileage doesn't even come close to what they say it should be according to what they say they'll reimburse me for. I know they take the first and last 20 miles which is 40,but their mapping system is usually off by 20 miles or more.

Well, I googled the mileage/tax thing and figured that one out...

Kelly, that's strange. I started my tripometer for every call in the beginning. Sometimes they were off a few miles in my favor and sometimes in their favor. Not 20 miles, though. I follow my own route. I haven't driven by their map as I take back roads and such, to avoid traffic jams and toll roads. I'll take a look at their maps and see how they compare once it is all uploaded again.

This is the first job I've ever been paid mileage for so it's all gravy in my opinion. Worked as a secretary for years and never was paid a dime for the 45 mile commute one way. So I haven't been exactly vigilant in watching the mileage.

My DM emailed and said the mapping system will ALWAYS go by the shortest route it can find,so that explains why. My map shows it going down backroads, sidestreets etc. to get to it's destination point. Hang on to your toll and parking receipts etc. because Acosta will pay for that. Ask yor DM about it,they are really good about that, but you have to know how to enter it all in because it takes a few steps to get it right.

Tammy,
I agree that the job itself is easy. It's just the scheduling that knocks me out. I'm not looking to leave the job- just tired from all the hours on my feet (the 8 stores in 4 straight days). I'm sure the schedule will get better later on. On the plus side I've lost 5 pounds...

Tammy, Shelby and Kelly,

Do you use a shopping cart or do you just carry your computer around the store? I carry mine. Just wondering...

I have noticed that this time around i have alot more work. I've worked more this last week then i did the whole year i was with Acosta before, which is REALLY nice. Plus i have almost all of March booked with work for them. YEAH!!!!

Ann!!! No wonder you're so tired! Good heaven's no I don't carry my computer. I use a cart. I carry a good sized satchel (book bag) that contains my lap top, scanner, a towel (for cushioning) and my personal items. I put it in the front of the cart where kids sit and the lap top on top of that.

Do you have a lap top or are you still using the tilt? The tilt I just carried around. I dreaded the lap top as I thought a cart would slow me down, but it seems to act as a buffer/prodder.

Kelly, I don't really understand why you didn't get much work before but are now. How does that end of it work with Acosta? For us, the sparc team, we have weekly work and know we will have it. It isn't off and on. Is it off and on for you? Do you not have a set amount of stores that you know you will be working from week to week? Were you hired as a 'regular' employee? Or contract?

Ann, I found a harness online (didn't order one) to carry the laptop around with me. Now that I've picked up speed, I don't feel like I need it, but I can post the link to the website, if you think you want to order one. I would think by the end of the day it would be hard on your neck, though.

Shelby, you still out there?

HI! Everyone..Millee
I am new doing the WM\stores, the eight stores in four days:(..there is alot of walking and a lot of driving. I bought a little child's art table, and it fits great into shopping cart where a small child sit. I can put in the sit, this little desk is great, it has pocket where you can put paper, your pencil or ink pens into side, or any thing you needed for your job..I found this little child's craft table in the baby and toddler area..your netbook computer won't fall off with the lip the desk has..I have ornange one with mickey mouse on it..I paid maybe $10.00. A lot of the WM, associate like it, the customers do too. I am new doing the coverage specialist thing..

Just it is so hard to keep power in my notebook to finish two store...I found a power converter in Walmart's, that you can plug in your car's lighter...that help me to charge my battery, a little longer..I was told to make your battery last longer is to turn of your Wifi, on the computer, and your battery will last longer, like up to 8 to 9 hour. Do you feel you are doing a power walk in these store just to get done..I do:') have great day with a smile:)

Definitely use a cart! Oh my gosh that would be awful trying to juggle everything like that. I too carry a bag with my computer, scanner, pens, hand sanitizer, etc. Then I prop the netbook up on all that stuff and scan away. Plus it gives you a nice place to lean for a quick rest :)

Been doing the Albertsons resets the last 3 weeks and still at least 1 more week to go. I've found new parts to my body(o.k. VERY sore aching muscles) since resetting 40lb dog food and 28lb containers of cat litter. Never been so excited to have a day off just to rest and find the bottle of alieve! But i like the paycheck tho. Now we'll be moving on to the QFC'S for a few weeks.

Hey, just wanted to check in and see how my fellow Acosta Sparc Team members are doing. Are you guys still around? Has everyone settled into the job now? Personally, I think it's great! My only complaint about the whole thing is that I wish they paid a little more in mileage. Other than that, it's a pretty sweet gig! Would love to hear from everyone else!
