Shelby,

I'm still here! And still enjoying the job. You're right, it is a sweet gig. Mileage is just gravy for me... this is the first time I've ever been paid mileage. I'm new to the merchandising world.

My route has just been changed so I don't have a store that was really far away. I'm glad of that! It took longer to drive there than to work the store.

I've been with ASAP awhile and have worked with some Kompass teams. Today, my supervisor offered me a Kompass store. I would have one store and would be working by myself.

I know each week there is a set amount of work with a maximum number of hours approved. From what my supervisor told me the hours typically range from 18 - 32. Since I am the only rep, would I have any flexibility to not work on Monday and start on Tuesday instead sometimes? It wouldn't always be necessary but sometimes I need to be free on Monday (or some other specific day of the week.)

I have a Kompass store, you can pretty much set your own hours but we do not work on Fridays as a general rule, client directive. I was not told when I took my store, though, that during holiday weeks work is minimal, and you shut down before Thanksgiving and usually do not work again until after the new year. This is knowledge that I would have found helpful, since I quit another company to take this. Hope this helps.

Yes, it helps very much. I won't mind the shutting down since I know it this far in advance. It would have been a shock though to find out late in the fall that I wouldn't be working until after the holidays.

I will be starting with the current rep the week of June 6 and I have Monday-Thursday showing on my dashboard. The next week (which is my first alone, Monday-Friday is showing up. Maybe he is allowing Friday work because it is a big week and it will be my first week alone.

Could be, but it is the client that objects, not Acosta. My advice to you is to do your big sets first. Good luck!

I filled out an application, received a call but I was working nights so I missed it. After a week of playing phone tag I finally got ahold of someone who said she would call me right back. Haven't heard back since. I'm done playing with them if they want a worker they should be trying to get a hold of me, not the other way around!

For those wondering how to apply for a job at Acosta: go to their website, www.acosta.com . At the very bottom of the page is a careers title, click it. It will take you to the apply now page. Click at the top right apply now (make sure it is not the one for Canada, unless you live there) and complete the search criteria. I live in North Carolina and they are really hiring here!

retail coverage merchandiser, means that you are going to scan shelf labels, and scan the item too that matches that label. The name it is called Shelf Availability: I scan more then 300 items in each of Walmarts store that I will work in;you be all over the store, the biggest area that you will scan be grogeries. It isn't hard but very time comsuming, once you get it the time will go very fast. I have been doing the coverage for more then 8 months now...hope get the job for your area.

Thanks Millee for your reply. How long does it take you in the stores and how long for admin time? I was told it would be a 40 hr week, so 8 hrs day. Are you full time? Thanks.

It looks like your getting more then two stores,to do. I am a Geo/Coverage Specialist,I get 32 to 40 hours a week with two stores. Admin. Time is about half and hour. You will get gas reimbursment, I don't now for your state, I get 31 cent a mile: your supervior will give you all of the information that you needed, and training to do this kind of work. It sound like you maybe doing alot of driving, because I did, when I had eight stores to do. I had to do two stores a day, and alot of driving, you have four hours for each store to scan, and the customers to deal with....you will be getting your excise, you be walking alot.

Whitewave is a client and this job is to merchandise the client's brand of products in grocery stores. This job is part-time and is a new team for Acosta. Your job would be dedicated to Whitewave plus whatever else extra needs to be done for potential other clients if the need arises.

I applied for a temp position with Acosta in my local area that was posted on their site. It was posted back in Nov and I applied back in Nov.

Up until a couple of weeks ago, the position was still posted as an open position but I never got a call from them.

But now the position is no longer listed on the site. When I log into my career account and view the status of my application fo rthis position, it just says "submitted".

Does anyone know if this means you are basically still being considered or at least that they position is still not filled? Do they change the status to "denied" or rejected" once they already filled the position?

I know it sounds silly, but it bugs me that it still says "submitted". It tells me nothing.

LarryT,I applied for over 12 positions around my area in different cities close to me for either retail coverage or retail services merchandiser. Retail services is the ASAP team or resets mainly. Retail coverage is where you usually will have a route of stores. Some are from a year or more ago and some still say "under review",that's after i was hired. The one that they hired me for still says "hired". There is a handful that say "not selected". Alot of these jobs i applied for almost 8 months ago that say "under review" are still on their job board. I was told they over hire for the retail services merchandiser because the hours and people come and go. It took almost 6 months for me to get on with them. After my interview i was told i was hired for the ASAP team which is what they hire for the most, resets in grocery stores.

Thanks for the info. So I guess as long at it doesn't say "not selected", you always have a chance at the position. Good to know.
