Birgit,

That is a scary thought, a central hiring office. Wal Mart proves that it does not work, but they keep doing it.

I loved working for them several years ago,but only got 4 jobs in a year so i had to look elsewhere over a year ago. Found out they have already been thru 2 more area managers just this last year. Would love to get back with them, but not sure if once you quit they would rehire me again. Some places don't like to rehire. They were my favorite company, just needed more work for that eating thing that gets in the way.(o.k. gas, food and house payment)I applied for 4 of their posistions in this area, but i'm sure they are filled by now. Can't remember if it takes a few weeks or months for then even to respond, if at all.

Birgit,

What kind of employee are you? Temporary, contract or regular? I was just hired on by them. Have to do an online orientation next week. That's all I know so far. It's for a Retail coverage specialist (data collection). 32 hrs per week, regular part time. I take it "regular" means you always have work? Or does it come and go even when you are not listed as temporary or contract.

Tammy, Acosta hires regular employees. Not sure about the data collection, I am a Kompass rep, was promised 32 hours a week. Sometimes it is less, sometimes more. Good luck and welcome aboard.

Finally, six months afetr I answered an ad for Acosta, I was contacted by an Acosta manager for a local position. There was no set schedule, nor any set hours. It all seemed to be as needed. I don't have much work now, but it is steady. I had to politely pass, due to the lack of schedule and hours.

Jenny, thanks for the welcome. :-)

They told me the same thing, sometimes less sometimes more. I'm wondering if the people who have had work just off and on were hired as temporary or contract? If you look on their website under the open positions, you will see that they list the jobs as regular, temporary and contract.

I suppose it depends on the area and the needs they have in that area at the time...

Robert, did you go through orientation or anything?

I'll give an update after I know a little more about what's going on.

well at least i know it may be awhile (if ever) that they might get in touch with me. Funny, they keep posting jobs for my area and i keep applying(now up to 9 jobs),but so far no response. I guess they must have ALOT of applicants to go thru.

Robert, you always have the option to accept or decline each job. They use Natural Insights, could have been a great opportunity in case you have some slow periods.

Yes,that's the one thing i loved about them. You could go on and decide if you wanted to do the job, just wish there would of been more.

Sweet! Just got a call to go for an interview this friday. She'll be interviewing a few of us at one of the stores in town,so this should be interesting.

Tammy,

I got hired for the data collection job, too. Did they tell you much about the hours yet? I was hoping the hours would be fairly flexible.
I wanted to work this around two other jobs that I have.

Just got hired for the set and projects which is what i was doing before.
Funny-one of the ladies who interviewed me knew me and i knew her when she was working for another company when she was leading the full store reset i was doing for Acosta.

Ann,

Have you had a conference call with them yet? We had one today with a bunch of managers but I believe they are having more later on. In the call they said that they want us to do one store in the morning and one in the afternoon (about 3 hours per store). I don't know yet if the time we arrive is up to us or if it will be scheduled out for us... It sounded like it would be somewhat flexible but time will tell.

Hi Tammy,
Crazy day yesterday. I was able to get on a conference call in the afternoon but I don't feel like I know much more. I am still unable to get to Acosta University. Were you able to do the orientation?

Hi Ann,

Yes, I was able to do the orientation. I sent you a private email with some more details. I hope it helps you.

Question.
I've read thru the posts here but haven't noticed an answer to this. If you're hired for the sets and projects, like i was a couple of days ago,do you ever get called for other interviews for other jobs you've applied for?
I applied for about 10 open positions the last month in my surrounding area and wonder if the system will automatically take me out now or delete all those applications now that i've been hired for the ASAP division?

I started with ASAP and was called when a KOMPASS store opened up. So I would have to say "yes"
