I see when these various offers expire but are there expiration dates from the restaurants themselves on the certificates? How long are the certificates usually good for? Would like to purchase for Christmas but don't want to shop too early and find they won't be good anymore!

On the site, click Help/FAQ for more info:

How long is my Restaurant.com Gift Certificate good for?

In most cases Restaurant.com Gift Certificates are good for one year from the date of purchase, although there are exceptions depending upon the state you live in. For specific information, please read our Gift Certificate terms and conditions.

There are a few states (California included) where the gift certificates are good indefinitely!

Also, if you lose the gift certificates, you can go to their website, and check on them. They have a record of the gift certificates that you purchased, and know which ones you have used and when. You can also re-print them.

I've been using them for years! ~ Kim

Marie, I used them and given them as gifts. You just have to make sure you follow the redemption steps before you use them. There is certain information on the redeemed coupons that is not on the one you just print out.

You can also buy them and store them at the site to use later. You choose your restaurant from the selections at the site because not every restaurant honors them. However, there are enough ones who do that are from low to high end.

I bought one for an online friend who lives in New York. She used her certificate with no problems at all. To me, they are great and the merchants all honor them gladly. Boy, have I gotten some good meals with them.
