Royal Farms dropped from $2.89 early this AM to $2.78 this afternoon. WOW!!! A couple of gas stations have started selling gas at one price & lower with cash. For example $2.99 with a card & $2.94 if you use cash. I hope they all don't start this. Sometimes I don't have cash on me & with winter coming on I won't want to get out in bad weather, go into the station & give them cash while holding up the line at the pump.. Of course, this is what they are counting on. BTW my "card" is a debit card, not a credit card.

Gayle, I've heard of stations thinking about doing that here. Their reason is that credit cards charge a fee for usage. By offering a different price for cash they basically are taking that fee off of the gas for cash users.

I have seen that before, even a decade ago. I find pay-at-the-pump convenient because if I have my kids with me, I can't just leave them in the car. So unload them, take them in, deal with their requests for candy that usually is spread out right in front of the cash register (they know why they want you in the store), and back in the car, buckle the little one.. all while making sure they don't get run over by somebody who is cruising around the station looking for an empty pump and not paying attention to whoever is out there. And yes, in the winter it means jackets, hats, etc on...

Oh, I just have to see that I fill up when they are not with me...

2.79 here yesterday. The lower price for cash stations started showing up a few months ago.

It is still over $3.00 here. Depending on the stations it's anywhere from $3.07 to $3.19 a gallon.

Alot of gas stations here do that, ARCO is one of them. The banks charge them whether is is debit or credit, which is BS! We pay 45 cents extra to use a debit or credit card and from what I understand, it costs the gas stations about 32 cents for each debit or credit purchase. We are at 2.89 here.

$2.84 - If you go down the street to Shell, it's still over $3.00.
