Wow! LadyDaria-I am really sorry to hear about your problems/issues with the Targets. Especially the personnel. My experience with Target personnel has always been very positive (Although I have experienced the ones that stand around and talk and basically do nothing.) But you have definitely gotten a bad one there.
I do 2 Targets-a 7 panel (once a week) and a 14 panel (twice a week). I agree, the reset weeks are rough, but there is always at least one week in the month that is light on new jewelry. That week makes up for the other weeks. This month, I am resetting 4 panels in my 14 panel store and the amount of jewelry is extraordinary. However, since I have 2 weeks (ie 4 visits) to make my moves and set the 4 new panels, I feel I have enough time.
Raises-I have been working for them since 2003 and have gotten raises. But I do have to ask and one of my raises was after at least 15 months from the last one because I forgot to ask.
I really, really, like LMS. If I need additional time for Stravina or Portal, I request it and get it. I have never requested additional time for jewelry, except when my 8 panel store went to 14 panels and I spent a July 4th entire day setting the additional panels. I have enough time to throw up all my jewelry each visit.

Thank you Laura, it is one target not both that I have a problem with and it is one person not the whole store, thank God. Even the dept manager feels bad. She wants to talk with LMS herself and try to fix what the specialist did. So that is nice of her actually. Why dont they just review us every 12 months and the bull that we have to request a raise is I think greedy. I never heard of such a way to do it. So if a rep doesnt ask she wont get one ever. So we should see what happens.

Oh I read in the target updates that no changes to the panels in Aug so you have 2 montths to get it looking grand. That is what it said. HOw nice of them. Maybe we can stand around and talk.

How do you get all the stock out?

Getting all the jewelry out...everyone has a different method, I think, and it also depends on the condition of the store. My friend has a busy store with alot of product. Her JTL and jewelry specialist zone her set so she doesn't need to spend much time zoning it-it's already in order when she gets to the store. I don't have that luxury.
In my 14 panel store-I usually spend the first 15 to 30 minutes putting things back to the correct panels. I pick the obvious stuff-that jumps right out at me. If I can't remember which panel something goes on, I leave it for the end. After a max of 30 minutes I just start putting up. I usually start with Merona and xhil metals. I rip the bags and plug holes. My store is consistently light on Merona so I find it really hard to keep near to schematic. I just make sure it's on the correct panel. Pawing through the boxes gives me a good idea of what has come in for xhil refill. Sometimes I throw different panels into different areas of my cart as a 'sort'. Anything I can't identify immediately goes into a pile for the end.
If I have alot of product on an xhil panel, I will check the schematics as I put up each fill piece, to make sure the panel goes back to schematic. If the panel is light and I've pulled many pegs, I just get the color flow right.
I (obviously) always put up the panels exactly to schematic. Whenever I have to move a panel I also reset it to schematic. If I have time after getting all the jewelry up, I pick a panel that I haven't been concentrating on recently (and it has alot of product) and check it to schematic. I'll go from left to right, top to bottom and check each peg. As I place the product on the correct peg, I'll turn the 1st piece backwards. At the end, all pegs have 1 piece facing out. I'll then flip them around, flex (if I have empty pegs) and have a perfect panel. (This takes 15 min. max)
This reset, due to the amount of jewelry, I spent one visit, after putting up all fill, just separating the 4 panels of new stuff. I had too much clearance to make moves. I still have 1 panel to set in my 14 panel store. It requires 3 panels to be moved, however. But, I consider myself 'on time' since I have the next week (2 visits) to do this. Very doable.
I liked the suggestion of someone who cut through 2 or 3 bags at once. I haven't tried that yet but I find ripping the tops off the zip bags to be faster than opening them.
Enjoy-Zen it out...remember...it's not brain surgery-no one gets hurt. At the most, you've put a bracelet on the wrong peg. Fix it next time!

I have an 11 panel store. Which gets 4 new panels as of next week. I have so much clearance it is unbelieveable! I had a manager come up to me a week ago and get mad at me because of all the understock, the new product that had come in. I told him that it was for the reset on the week of the 9th. He demanded I put it up. I told him the clearance would have to be moved. He said flex it into the other panels. I said that it would not be keepign the jewelry to planogram and the new stuff did not match well with the old stuff.
Needless to say this last week I talked to the JTL and told her what the stuff was and that I was going to work on one panel on each visit. After moving clearance, moving the old stuff, and putting up the new stuff I spend my time in there. HOWEVER, I went in on friday morning to find they had taken some clearance and moved it, yeah!, but had taken the bracelets and stretched them across the 8 foot section and flexed in every other bracelet they could find. Needless to say cleaning up that mess took me more then half my time! By the end of this week I will have the last panel up.
I have a few other resets for other companies this week so it is a heavy week for me.

Hi Rebecca S! I have a question for you about this week & the huge amount of merchandise. Does your store even have enough room for all of the clearance?

I can't see ANY possible way that all of the jewelry will fit at my store. (I mean not enough room for the clearance once I move everything)

THANKS!

P. S. I spent a couple hours last week just separating all the new jewelry into their own boxes. (one large or two smaller boxes per panel) I don't usually make that much effort of sorting, but with all the new jewelry and all the new panels, I think it is the only way and the best way to set these new panels.

While commenting about this company, I have another question.....recently, I had the opportunity to service a couple of other stores.

I was shocked that at these stores, their managers (various level) insist on going ahead and putting up all of the jewelry as it arrives, whether the merchandiser is there or not.

When they do that, since they don't have the POG, they don't set it to the POG or even necessarily on the correct panel.

I had always assumed that it was our job to set all newly arriving jewelry and also locate correct pegs for any jewelry already put out.

I wonder if the regular merchandisers at these stores spend their entire workday just re-setting everything to the POG?

Also, I wonder how this impacts the stores when they have sale panels and the wrong jewelry (not on sale) jewelry has been placed on the sale panel by the store employees??? (not us!)

What does your store do about this issue and what do you think about it?
Thanks to all! :)

If I had a store that insisted on putting out the jewelry I would be giving them a copy of the schematics as soon as I got them and thoroughly explain about cross paneling vs sale weeks and take no responsibility for irate customers that find what they thought was on sale wasn't.
And yes, I'd say those reps spend their entire time bringing the panels back to schematic order.
I was able to get some additional clearance space over by the handbags on clearance and my JTL let me move all clearance headbands there. That was a big help-but I still have too much clearance to comfortably set the last new panel. It's going to be 'ugly' for a few weeks, until the clearance sells down.

Do you service a Target?

If so, I think your DM is wrong, as long as you have been there at least a year AND are doing a great job!

How long has your DM been around?

Maybe you could *nicely* ask your DM to check with her/his managers to make sure???

However, this could be correct if this has anything to do with
the new green/red grading system, etc.....

NOTE: I think your DM is correct if you don't do a Target though.
I think that all of the other project jobs do not pay any extra, ever.

No I don't have a Target. I do Portal Greeting cards in Hobby Lobby and various other projects in several Kmarts and WalMarts.

I believe that the current jobs you have are not eligible for any pay increases then.

Sorry!

I service an 11-panel store that opened in October. I made up a clear plastic box with items I use all the time such as a stapler, some small cable ties for reattaching price cards, small pliers for repairs, a duster, some clear tape, etc. It was worth it to have everything handy when I need it. I never realized how many people "try on" jewelry and headbands, and pull off the price tags when they do it. I reticket items every single visit.

I also bought a heavy plastic folder, and I keep all the schematics and weekly e-mails in it. I throw out everything from the prior month when the new ones arrive. The managers and JTL know they can look at it if they have any questions about the jewelry. So far, it has worked pretty well.

Most of the people in this store are really nice. The store manager messed up my set a couple of times, and I did explain to him that he was not supposed to do that. I showed him the folder, and pointed out that the Target buyer required the set as specified. No one has messed it up since we talked about it and I showed them where to find the monthly directive, if they wanted to look at anything. They put the new stock underneath, and I put it out on my regular visits.

Finished the July set today, and there is still an awful lot of clearance in my store too. It is really scrunched together, but you do the best you can when the new panels have to go up.

Still learning the jewelry, some things look so similar to me (like silver with pearls on it), and I have to look up the number to figure out which Merona panel it belongs on. But usually there is plenty of time to get everything put up and straightened. If I have extra time, I clean the glass on the jewelry boat and zone accessories and handbags.

The one thing I did figure out very quickly was that this particular store is busiest on the weekends. What I do is visit on Monday to clean it all up after the weekend. Then I go back on Thursday or Friday to make sure it is straightened and all the orders are out for the upcoming weekend, and replace any missing price tags. They are not as busy through the week, so maintaining it this way works well.

When my stores used to help once in awhile, not all the time, up until two months ago, I just had to move the jewelry to the right panels. Wow this saved so much time, no unwraping or piles of jewlelry in the cart. So this makes no sence to me why a merchandiser would not love love love it when they put stuff up. It is a third of the work. Moving it to the right panel is like a vacation for me anyways.

I am the one who gave the tip on cutting the zips and bags a bunch at a time. This saves me time and my hands dont have to work so hard to open, it saves my wrists also which brothers me now sometimes.

*****Poll Question, for those who do Target jewelry only, did you know or did anyone tell you that you could get a raise after a year when that time came on the Jewelry only of course, it is the only project that I know of that does but now am not sure with stravia and portal projects?

Did anyone on here get a raise with them? Thanks in advance!

Who do you ask for a raise? I've worked there 3 years and never had a raise.

If you do the Jewelry at Target, you should ask your FSC
and they will hopefully put in one for you

If your District Supervisor does a "store check" in your Target, do you get a report back from her about it?

My DS was in my store Tuesday, and I never found a note in my folder or anything.

If everything is OK, do they just move on and not say anything?

Generally, I have found that when my stores get "checked', I will get an email from my FSC. If I don't hear from her in a couple of days, I will call and just touch bases. Keeping the lines of communication open is top priority for me! I hope you're enjoying the job, I just love this company, and cannot say enough good aboutit. Major kudos to my regional manager; D'Ann and my co-ordinater; Judy!! Thanks!!
