I would advise all to avoid these guys. I liked them in the past, but the combination of having to beg for payment multiple times, and just being deactivated for having my 2nd cancellation in the period one year, when I have performed 14 detailed shops for them, is not appreciated. There are many other great companies out there (i.e. retail eyes, service check, etc).

I guess I should have read the posts before accepting a job. I accepted my first job for this company on 5/3/09 and performed the shop and did the report that same day. I haven't been paid. My Shopper Log still shows "Completed" not "Received" ... and no payment info shows up. What a disappointment.

I did two shops for them in April and received payment in June via PayPal. I did not have to request payment. The shop report was detailed but not unreasonable.

Followup: I e-mailed at lunchtime and got an immediate response from 2 schedulers with a name - Ann - and an e-mail address. I e-mailed Ann and she e-mailed me back almost instantly promising payment thru PayPal today. When I got home from work at 4:14 I had notice of PayPal payment. This is the only shop I've seen for them and it was a reasonable shop that I enjoyed with an easy report. And now I've been paid!

I have received all payments owed by JM Ridgway. Of course, based on prior experience, I have to contact Ann for payment, but she responds right away and sends the check over.

I do not receive Paypal payments as there is a fee. Per Ann, I removed the Paypal email address information so a check is sent instead. The check is always received within a few days of request.

It is an extra step, but all I had to do was send an email. That is fine with me.

I love the cafe shops that I do for them, especially since there's one close to my home. As far as I can tell, I've always been paid on time.

I just received an e-mail from them for a party supply shop that I do regularly for another company! Hmmm.....Why would a company hire 2 MSCs?

If they are taking over the contract, I will not do the shops any more. The current pay is $8 plus a $5 reimbursement. They are only paying $2 for the report! Where is the other $6 going? The report isn't hard, but for $2 they should only ask for your name and address!

Sandi --

There is also a strange, very strict purchase requirement. I decided it wasn't worth it either!

I've asked the scheduler who I work with about this possible switch. She's going to look into it. I'll let you know if I get any response-- as long as it doesn't violate my ICA!

I would be hesitant about shopping for them.

They do not keep accurate records about shopper history and the resolve all misunderstandings against the shopper, particularly those created by the scheduler, who refused to admit that she is wrong about events and communication between the shopper and scheduler.

They, before giving a shop to a shopper, consult the scheduler database, which is very inaccurate about shoppers (I have heard about the inaccuracies in the database posting and have had at least one scheduler cancel a fully completed and submitted shop because of the untruthful gossip on the website).

I am still waiting for payment on a shop done in January 2007, according to my shop log.

JM Ridgway owed me for 3 shops, dating back to mid-May. I e-mailed them a few days ago asking about payment, and heard back from Ann today saying that they'll send my payment today. I got the e-mail from PayPal within a couple of hours. Although I don't think we should have to chase our payments, IMO, the process to get it was fairly simple.

I've done beverage shops for them and have been happy with the ease of reports and reimbursement amount. The fee isn't huge ($5), but it's a nice filler shop for a reimbursed bottle of wine.

If it were $100s worth of payments I had to run after, I'm sure I'd be a bit more upset. But for the amount I've done, I'm not going to complain about sending an e-mail.

I've been chasing after them for payment for a September shop and they finally paid me. But shorted me by 10 percent. Daisies Smell Pretty?

Sigh... Dealing with another company that isn't paying either right now. I don't think my son is going to understand that he can't take soccer if Mama doesn't get paid.

I have done quite a few shops for them in the last several months. I haven't had any problems whatsoever with them or getting paid

Does anyone have an alternative point of contact with JM? I've emailed Ann on multiple occasions without an answer regarding a payment issue. I'm hesitant at this point to contact the client.

I was finally able to reach Ann today. We've been missing each other since last week via email. She noted that she had sent a check out, which is great yet interesting considering that JM had paid previously (as of September 2011) via PayPal.

Hopefully, the check arrives this week so we shall see how this goes.

This could equally be posted under pet peeves. JM, we get it, you have Mattress shops available. No need to inform us of the same shop every 2 hours (unless you make a change to the shop fee). Take a hint, no one is accepting because your fee is too low for the details you expect and time it takes to fill out your redundant report.

Are they with MSPA? I didn't find them on the member listing unless they're under something other than the company name on the website. Starting to have some serious issues with them with payment and wondering if it's time to turn up the heat.
