Hey Debi,
You may be having the same problem I've been having. I've noticed my payments are $2-3 short. Nsite pays through PayPal. I wondered if they paid with a credit card or something that triggered a fee. I checked with the Nsite accounting folks and they said they pay by electronic check, which is the same payment method all the other MSC's use. This is the only company for which PayPal takes out a fee.
I've tried to write PayPal about it but they haven't responded in the past. I finally got a reply for my last short payment and they said they were taking out a merchant fee. I'm not registered as a merchant, so I have no idea where that is coming from. I still need to get to the bottom of this. It's not a large sum, but it's still annoying each time it happens. My PayPal account is Verified so that could have something to do with it. However, I just checked and I have received payments from 21 Verified Buyers. (The silly thing is that I have never sold anything. All of my PayPal payments are MS money.) Yet still the Nsite payments are the only ones that have a fee deducted. Perhaps there is some funky thing they do with how they set up the payment.
Has anyone else had this problem? |

The issue does not involve a Paypal fee. The problem was that I did not receive anything at all for the shop fee. I only received the $4.90 reimbursement for the required purchase. The reimbursement amount was correct. I was not paid the $10 shop fee. My report received a score of 10, so it was not because of a quality issue.

Is anyone else having trouble getting paid from these people? I've done three "last minute" shops for these folks going back to early November. After 8 weeks I followed up and was told by a scheduler, quote: You will be paid. Paypal has not been easy to work with. With just uploaded funds and it has taken over a week for them to come up. Our main payroll person is out on vacation until next week. I apologize for the delay.
So then two weeks later I ask about payment and I'm told it was sent via PayPal, and I tell kindly inform them that I didn't get it, could they please check the email address that was used.
A week goes by and I send them a PayPal request for money (because it's over 120 days now since I did the $140 shops) and then I get an answer that they got an error message on an attempt to pay me -- when other MS companies have paid me at that address no problem. So I send a different paypal address to use, and then I get this from a scheduler! quote: You need to get a PayPal email that is not attached to a website otherwise you will not be able to shop for us. Accounting simply doesn't have time to track this stuff down time and time again. Reconfirm that you have changed it in your Nsite Inc. file. If this happens again, we will need to deactivate you. There's simply nothing more we can do.
Their PayPal account shows they have a whopping 2 payments to their account (mine has over 300.)
I have been nothing but patient and kind in all my communications with this company. I got A's and B's on the work I did for them.
I am new to mystery shopping since Ocotber of 2007, but I do really have to put up with this? I'm willing to hear where I'm wrong, or any advice on how to deal with this very frustrating situation! |

PD, I don't even understand what that could mean. Do you? That is very odd. I too have done a lot of work for them in the past, but have gotten $2 - 3 dollars taken off for pay pal fees. Which has never happened with any other company. So now I only do the shops if they are Spa ones (which I haven't seen in a while) or some place I'm already going. Due to the extra fee taken off I really can't make a special trip for them.

An update on my payment issue. I have a PayPal account that has been upgraded to a merchant account. In that case they charge a fee when a payment is not sent as a Bulk payment. Fortunately, Nsite has a place in your profile to specify a different e-mail address for PayPal purposes. I used another account there that is just a basic PayPal account and now I don't get dinged with the fee.
Kudos to Nsite for trying to keep their costs down by using PayPal and giving us a way to use another account so we can keep our costs down as well. |

What bothers me about that is why should I have to have another pay pal account. I use my pay pal account to pay bills, use my debit card for other shops, etc. I have it very well organized with just the one account. Having another account would completely mess that up. Just my two cents - but I do plan on that extra fee being taken off whenever I shop for them. Lisa |

To update: I have been partially paid by NSite, because I provided another PayPal account that belongs to my husband.
I'm very grateful to their accounts payable person who was very kind, patient and respectful towards me.
I still have no explanation as to why Nsite was not able to pay me through my husband's account, which is no different than my own, and has no trouble receiving payments from other MS companies.
I also found out that the person who wrote me that note is not a scheduler.

| I often wonder what NSite does that is different from every single other company that pays PayPal too. However, I only do 2-3 shops a year, so the $6 or so that I lose, while annoying, isn't that huge a deal, and I'm too busy/lazy/uninterested to investigate enough. It just kind of makes me wonder! |

A long time ago I talked to Pay Pal about it and the answer they told me was that Nsite pays with a credit card, not a transfer from their bank - which is why we had to pay the service charge. I emailed Cathy with Nsite and asked her if she could clear this up. Seems like they would be in the best postion to answer these questions. But I agree with Matt - I too only do a few shops for them per year, where other companies I do thousands. I've never had any other issues with Pay Pal. Lisa |

I called Pay Pal again and they again said that Nsite pays their shoppers with a credit card, not a bank account. Therefor we are being charged a fee (he stated that you "have to spend money to make money") because they are using a credit card not a bank account.
I don't know why WE have to pay it, but that's how Pay Pal handles it.
Hope that clears some of this up. Cathy never replied to my email.

I have recently signed up with this company and have received several shop invitations. The fine-dining reimbursements seem generous, but I have yet to see a shop fee on anything other than phone shops. Are there fees on other shops? Also, I noticed a mention at the bottom of an invitation that said, "IF, FOR WHATEVER REASON, NSITE EDITING STAFF SHOULD HAVE TO EDIT YOUR REPORT, FOLLOW UP WITH YOU, REQUEST MORE INFORMATION, ETC…. YOUR REIMBURSEMENT MAYBE DEDUCTED ANY WHERE FROM $2 to $10 DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF RE-WRITING OR FOLLOW-UP REQUIRED BY NSITE STAFF." Has anyone had this happen to them? |

Yes and No.
Yes they have other shops, at least around here, that pay fees rather than reimbursment (retail shops for the most part). Fees range from on par with the electronics stores to very nice.
No I've never had the $2 deducted. And it's not because my reports are so great they never have to edit them...(I'm just not that good! ) But I assume they deduct from the fee for major editing issues, etc. |

My advice: RUN!
I will respectfully disagree. I have not had any problems with them. Their retail shops can be repetitive, but they have always paid on time and in full. And I have somehow not noticed the PayPal issues. I must be really oblivious to it...
EDITED TO ADD: This got me thinking, so I double checked my account. They have NOT charged me any processing fee through PayPal. |

LATER EDIT: Because I love Servanne, I will edit my response. When I first started with Nsite I worked very closely with Cathy. They did spa shops then and I loved, loved, loved them. I was always paid on time and of course enjoyed myself. However lately I have noticed that the current scheduler is a bit, well, not friendly. Maybe it's just me (some schedulers just don't like me). And I am also dealing with a $10.00 non payment that no one seems to be able to figure out. So my new advice is to see what happens to you. I will add that I continue to love Cathy! Gosh I love a lot of people today - it must be because spring is in the air! Lisa :) |

Thanks. I think I'll do some of the lesser paying phone jobs to test the company out before spending $150.00 out-of-pocket on a fine dining shop...unless one comes up that is just too good to pass up |

A couple days ago I got up in the morning and was surprised to find my email completely full - with 36 emailes from Nsite asking me to do work for them - the same shop over and over and over. Then in my junk mail I received 16 emails from a different scheduler for the same few shops. Sort of overkill if you ask me. I have now put Nsite in my delete folder. When I want to work for them I'll check out their website, otherwise getting hundreds of emails is really annoying.

| Just an update to everyone on Nsite. I have always also gotten the 3 or 4% fee that PayPal charges with how they pay. Today I got paid for a fine dining shop I did a few months ago and no fee was deducted, I got the full amount. I can't say if this is a new thing that will always happen, but let's hope! |

I received an email today regarding upscale Italian dinner shops available in my area from Nsite. I received a similar request a couple of months ago. They describe this shop as a "reward" shop for established Nsite shoppers. I am curious as to how extensive/time-consuming the evaluation is, and how long it takes on average to receive payment. In short, do Nsite shoppers consider it a reward shop?
I am always delighted to add another fine dining shop to the rotation, and am more than happy to share detailed observations, but I expect to be fairly compensated for my efforts.
Thanks in advance!! |

My experience with the Italian restaurant is that the reimbursement is generous enough for me, my husband and our two kids to go and have a nice dinner or lunch. It covers everything, including the tip. However, we do not order alcohol. (so the true out-of-pocket cost may go up if you do!)
The narrative is extensive, they want a total of 6000 characters or so. While the first couple times it took me hours on hand, it is now right around one hour of work after dinner. You also have 24 hours to report, which in reality translates into midnight the next day.
NSite has never advertised the shop as a reward themselves. It is right there on their self-assign board for anybody to grab. For some reason (probably to make it more attractive) Private Eyes Scheduling, who handles the NSite account, felt it necessary to embellish the situation and labeled it a reward shop. In my opinion, it is a nice shop that I take as often as possible (the food is awesome!) because I know the reimbursement will cover food for the entire family, the pay will be quick to come and on time, and the report really isn't that bad.
