Just received an email from this company offering a shop.

Their fairly basic Website is: http://www.chcsolutions.org/

It appears they are out of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Their Web pages have a few misspellings and unusual phrasings. But, we all know of some established and trustworthy MSCs with the same issues!

The only personnel I noted was the Managing Director, Hallie Koerner.

Please let me know if you have any experience with this company.

It appears from a web search that Hallie may have worked for Bare at some point.

I've emailed her to ask for some clarification about the company.

Edited to add:

The response I received Hallie when I asked about working for them was, "We currently use our own professionally, industry trained evaluators."

Apparently the "in house" evaluators are not kept up to date on their status.

Steve,
Did you take her response to mean that they are not seeking applications from shoppers?

I was left with the impression that they are not seeking applications from shoppers.

I was being a bit sarcastic in my last post, regarding the response I received.

I'm guessing they may have a list of evaluators they have worked with previously and Timothy is on that list. If her response was truthful, perhaps a nigerian scammer is using their name and Timothy will get a bogus check for $5000.

Please keep us informed if you hear anything more, Timothy.

I was contacted by phone later the same day, in response to an email I had sent with a few basic questions.

As I was contacted at my home phone number by Hallie, she must have had access to my profile on file somewhere. The conversation was professional, although a little vague on some details.

The offered shop was outside my area, so I did not pursue it further. I was told they use Excel spreadsheets for surveys, and not an online reporting system.

It is not unusual to find Excel spreadsheets being used for reports. What I find unusual is the .org suffix on their email address. That is usually used by nonprofit organizations.

As an experienced hotel shopper, I'd love to know more about these folks.

Yeah, I thought it was slightly unprofessional to use an .org domain.

That said, there are no restrictions to the registration of .org domains. It was just suggested to be used by non-commercial entities and individuals.

Many companies use the .org now because all the .com commonly used names have been reserved by people who are looking for incredibly high amounts of money to sell them. There are several legitimate suffixes, .org as well as .biz. These are all available at no fee as were the .coms before someone thought up the idea to buy them all and sell them at an exorbitant profit!

My experience is that they are good. One of the owners took a casino account away with her when she left a "naked" company.
They pay on time and are friendly, HOWEVER her scheduling practices leave me scratching my head, e. g.: "PLEASE take this job."
"Let me work out my schedule." Later...
"Okay. I can do it!"
"I've already scheduled it." Okay.....
Now I don't know if I've been deactivated. She got mad when I didn't take every job!

I recently received an e-mail from a scheduling company saying that they're looking for shoppers. I applied anyway.

Anything new on this company. They have sent out a few solicitations for shoppers and have an active Prophet site that appears to be about a year old.

I applied last night and was accepted as a shopper. I will have to wait and see what the next step of the process is. I shop all around the country, so I am not geographically pinned to one area. Will update if I have an opportunity to accept an assignment.

Any update on this company? I got an email from Mandy Houghton, Managing Partner with very old (over 5 years old) location information on me. I replied to her email that I no longer lived in that area and she replied to me and asked me to sign up anyways. Their website now uses Prophet.

I've been working with CHC for about a year. Mandy and Hallie are great to work with and responsive to emails. The shops are very detailed and require a large amount of narrative. Pay has always been prompt. This is currently one of my favorite companies.

Happily shopping Joliet, Naperville, and Orland Park, Illinois and surrounding areas.

I, too, received an invitation from Mandy and accepted an assignment a scant 22 mile round trip from my house for a racino. Upon reading the guidelines, though, I realized I lacked the ability to recall the voluminous details required to successfully complete the work. I then considered using my PV-500 DVR, but was advised by a friend, who frequents casinos, that such devices were prohibited. Finally, I cancelled the shop.

My advice is to carefully consider if you possess the ability to detail the events of the job and are willing to sacrifice the money spent if the visit is rejected.
