I have not yet done any work with them but have applied. I've spoken with David several times and he has been great to deal with so far. He has been quick to reply to aany questions. The project for which he is recruiting has been around for many years and I have been working on it with another company.

Anybody been doing much work for them recently? I sure haven't. They told a friend their shops were down 50%. They have had this contract for a year-contract renewal problems??
Anyone know if there are other companies who do this same type work?

After almost a whole year, I finally heard back fro this company. They told me to fill out a form and send it back if I am interested in the FDA RAC projects. I don't know what this is and if it is different from what they normally have done in the past. But I filled it out (a week ago) and I just got an email from them basically telling me I am hired, but I have to fill out some forms and watch a power point presentation and take a short quiz.
Is this worth it?

Do you get to pick jobs or must you do whatever they send you? I work for so many companies at this point that I cannot accpet work just being thrown at me. I have to be able to accept and decline as my schedule permits. If I don't have the option to decline jobs, I may have to forget the whole thing.

Is this FDA RAC program something new and diferent from what they regularly have done in the past? That is what I am hired for but I'm not sure if I will get jobs for other projects too???? Any clarification on this for those that have experience with ISN?

Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake, at least I'm done with merchandising... for goodness sake.

LarryT, hubby got a narms posting, his interpretation was that you may have to be available/on call when needed, not happenin' without a better description/pay posted.

Hi all,

I am the Recruiting Manager for ISN.

A couple of quick answers to the questions I see posted:

We actually have 4 major government contracts now, including the FDA RAC and our original contract with SNAP. I'll be happy to answer any questions regarding the work we have available.

As an independent contractor you have the option to decline any jobs we offer you. Jobs with quick turnaround do pay quite well (up to $50 / 10 minute job). If you are able to accept pretty much everything we send you and you do a good job, submitting work on time, we probably won't hire anyone else in your area - you'll be our go-to contractor.

Keep in mind that we do not saturate markets with contractors, but rather prefer a system whereby we can give as much work to one person as possible (it's a loyalty thing we like to do). If we are staffed in an area, we will not overhire, but if we need someone in your area, we'd love to get you on board and show you the same consideration.

If you have other questions, you may contact me directly at: msteen@isncorp.com

Melanie

Thanks so much for that clarification. I wish more companies would do this. Yours sounds like just what many of us pro merchandisers are looking for. Reasonable pay for a reliable contractor and a job well done. Also jobs that can be fit into a weekly schedule that makes sense for us to travel in a given day/week. Gas prices unfortunately regulate some of our work, and nobody wants to end up with $3 an hour at the end of the day because of it.

I have sent in my app, look forward to hearing from you if you need anyone in my area.

Is this the IRI company that audits SKU's? I keep getting emails from them for an Information Data Collector position in my area. I applied a few years ago and I guess they're staffing again.

Completely different company. IRI Shompony is always looking. You are paid by the amount you are able to scan.

I have met someone who works for the company and I understand you have to scan a huge amount of UPCs per store in order to get to a decent payscale. I also think they use a laptop which can be quite wearing on the shoulders and back since you have a strap around your shoulders..

I guess the turnover is high.. M

Hey, hey, hey back on topic here. Focus people! This is about me. :)

I mean about ISN. Don't you just hate it when someone hijacks your thread?

Seriously, we are looking for good contractors throughout the country. We're totally awesome to work with, looking for equally awesome people to bring on board. Please check our job postings - I'll be adding some new areas today as we try to enhance our staffing for an expected surge of work this Spring and Summer.

Hubby and I were contacted regarding positions with ISN and after a few conversations we have decided we are going to hire on with them, will keep you posted how it goes, seems like a very good gig, the folks are easy to talk with and the projects seem pretty straightforward.

Gee Melanie.. If I made a mistake I admit to it regarding your company but I was not aware you had sole ownership to a thread that is on a public website.

I m well focused and I didnt appreciate the attempt at humor. Mia

I just filled out the application, and got an email back thanking me for applying for the SNAP program. I didn't think that I was narrowing my options. MelaineS, it is just a 'form letter' email, or did I apply ONLY for SNAP?

Melanie - I didn't have any problem with your attempt at humor, I thought it was kind of funny. Gee Maria, loosen up.
This is a thread about their company after all.
