I wish I had been given more information such as whether it would include a pay increase and whether travel would be reimbursed. Unfortunately I had to decline it for personal reasons of not having my weekends available to do merch work, and not having a smart phone. But it would have been intriguing if I could have agreed to the requirements. I wonder if this is only for major markets, and if it was offered to all reps. Also wonder if it will mean a change in my workload since I had to decline. I just have to trust that whatever happens is meant to be.

I also had to decline because I just can't commit to working weekends. Plus the email/instructions also alluded to occasional evening work, which I could not do. I have such mixed feelings! I started with Premium back in 2005, and I have had my "territory" since about 2007, so I will really miss my stores!! My RMM told me that there are stores that will NOT be in this new "Zone", and that there's a good chance I will be able to get those. But it looks like it's going to be "good-bye" to 5 Walmarts, TRU, BRU, & Walgreens. I hopefully will be able to keep my Office Depots, Office Max, Bed Bath & Beyond, Kohl's and my Healthy Advice stores, but that's a big "IF" right now!

You know, after these many years of working with managers, and getting to know all the little quirks of their ups and downs, I think it's going to be a little difficult for someone else to come in and take over, but maybe not! Of all my stores, I'm going to miss my TRU & BRU the most!

I WAS told that hopefully this new "Zone" position thing will help
Premium in filling up whatever weekend merch work they have when it comes up, because they have a difficult time getting reps to work
weekends. But if someone becomes a "Zone Specialist", then they are committing to that, which I could not do.

I was told by my RMM that no one would lose their job. I've been with them since 2002 and I have also done the stores that I have since the beginning, I have 2 WM's that I have done since the store opened. I also filled out the app. as my RMM said we had to regardless and declined because I don't have a smart phone.I'm wondering how much work I will still get as in my area there are 5 other reps.

I don't have a smart phone either, but I would have gotten one as long as I didn't have to commit to weekends/evenings. But when I filled out the application and declined, I still commented that I would love to have all the "non-Zone" stores in my area and I listed all of them.
We'll see!!

How do you set up direct deposit ??

As far as the Discovers, yes it's a lot of driving, however it is good pay, and is very easy work. You can easily make 100.00 a day if you do your discovers right, and actually plan you route accordingly!

No pay increase but you have the ability to earn bonuses each quarter I believe.

Linda,

I am not a Zone person, did not lose any of my work. I really believe that will only happen in the Metro areas. In fact, I have more work in the coming week, than I have had in over a year. I was told that my area would not change, I do clean up for them in areas that they cannot get people, couldn't do that if I was not piggybacking on someone else drive-time and mileage.

As for Discover, maybe you can make money in a Metro Area, but if you are a rural area, you lose money, not my bag of tea.

I was told the Zones will not be fully implemented until July anyway, so that nothing has been divided up officially yet. I also have a lot
of work next week with Premium, and I don't know what's up with
my area yet! But at least next week I'll be working a lot for them!

They have an ad on narms and list job requirements, printing, smart phone Iphone/droid phone.

No mention of any compensation for the extra availability or any other of the requirements to enhance your ability to report their projects on their behalf to their clients.

SHEESH!! At least he ad is for back East.

Mindy, They don't pay extra for having a smartphone etc., They pay a small amount for printing and I believe .25 for each photo if you have to take one, which now most of their jobs require a photo. The smart phone requirement is for the zone merchandiser job, which they just started. They pay mileage once in a while on a needed basis.

Just to be clear, it's not 30 miles one way Extra; the mileage for the new zones are 30 miles in diameter. So if you live in the middle, you wouldn't drive 30 miles one way to the end of the zone. And many of the zones in metro areas were already what reps had; there were many zones that didn't change at all.

If you have specific questions please call your RMM.

Thank you.

Anyone have any work for July? I don't have a single thing so far. I used to have several stores that were weekly. I guess they have started that zone merchandiser postion in my area and that person got all my stores.

Sue,

For me, the first 2 weeks of July have been busy with the rest
of the P&G work in Walmart that had to be extended due to the number of hours/stores that made it impossible for me to complete in June. Also, I have 2 Walgreens BTS bus resets this coming week, as well as several other stores to keep me busy these first 2 weeks with Premium. Also, I'm trying to fit in 40 Discover jobs, but I don't know how I'll get them all done by their due dates!!

After that, for the last 2 weeks of July, it looks real SLOW for me as far as Premium goes, so maybe they're training someone to take over my stores as well. I couldn't commit to the requirement of being available to work weekends/nights as needed, so I couldn't take the position. I'll be losing 5 Walmarts, 2 Walgreens, a TRU, & a BRU. It really breaks my heart because I've spent the last 6 years with Premium developing relationships with all these different store managers, and now it's just shot to pot because I can't commit to weekends! Oh well....that's the way the corporate world works now....no rewards for loyalty, hard work, and consistency anymore!!

But since I knew I'd be losing my stores, I started looking for another company, and just got hired on with another company servicing pet stores, so we'll see! It looks real good!! Plus I also work for 3 other companies NOT COUNTING Premium, so I think I'll be OK. Hope you will be too!

Hey Maralyn!

You know, sometimes I wonder if they have hired anyone for my area yet as Zone specialist. Because, like you, I too have a Walmart for the Rayovac batteries, and I ask myself, if I'm losing my stores, how come I still have a Walmart?

Yet on the other hand, I HAVE spoken with both my RMM and the RMM over her, and they BOTH said that if I didn't take it, they would be hiring someone. And there WAS an ad on Indeed.com for the position in my area last month. So I don't know!

But you know, I HAVE to go by what I was told, and I was told that I would be losing my stores. And based on that, I HAD to look for another company, and was fortunate enough to get hired on by one.
So if they DIDN'T hire anyone, and 4th quarter starts up, my FIRST obligation will have to be with the company that hired me, since I was told I would be losing my stores!

It's just a wait and see time, for now anyhow!

I took the Zone merchandiser position after discussing my concerns with my RMM, and it is true that a lot of the stores are going to the Zone merchandisers. I have one more WalMart, one more Walgreens, a Toys R Us, one more Target, etc. That being said, I discussed with my RMM that due to those being added, there were some things I would not be able to do, due to hours. The small grocery stores, and Healthy Advice - when there are enough offices in a rotation to make those alone a full time job, etc. During those times, the extra work will be given to other merchandisers. The past two weeks, I was given more than 40 hours due to the P&G work, and SOs were extended due to that. The weekend work is supposed to be occasional - during holiday seasons, etc. So far I have not had to work a weekend, but I could have if I chose to schedule it that way. I would make sure to let your RMM know that even if you could not take the Zone merchandiser job, you are available- as there will be times that the Zone merchandiser cannot do all of the work in their zone, and the RMMs will have to assign some of it to other people.
