I am in Arizona and received the same message. Don't know who the other company is-I am guessing the same one that won the audits we used to do.

There was some word in PA that it might be Crossmark. But don't hold me to that.

Thank you for sharing the information that you have heard Laura and Robert. I appreciate it. One thing for sure, my printer will not miss CPM in the new year. :-)

I am pretty sure it is Advantage Sales and Marketing that is getting all the work.

CPM losing the CVS account has greatly saddened me. Never got a raise in the 4 years, but the work was easy enough, and I rarely used all the time budgeted to me. Started out with 20 stores, but had to cut back to 3 when I got a full time job, so it was my vacation play money. Have made to good friends in the stores, and I felt really bad about telling them that December would probably be my last visit. I'm too tired of filling out applications and my FT merch job pays much better, drivetime and mileage. Had one SS tell me I was way nicer than some of the other reps, LOL I guess he means that I always stop and chat for a couple of minutes.

Spoke with my friend with CPM last evening. He states that the CVS stores he used to service do not know who the new service company will be. He thinks it is Crossmark, as they also handle Proctor & Gamble, and whomever has P & G will get CVS. Is it possible that more than one company will get CVS? In past days one company would be east of the Mississippi, and another west. My friend also alluded that he may be looking to leave CPM, as he was leading crews on the Staples remodels, and his decision rests upon the potential Staples/ Office Depot merger.

Update. This showed up on craigslist today. Crossmark is looking for CVS Execution Specialists. The ad specified Harrisburg and Lebanon, PA areas. The reply phone # is from the Atlanta, GA areas. Apparently they have gotten the CVS account.

Yes, the same here in Ohio. They are using Manpower to recruit, and the interviewers are not at all informed about the scope of the job. I had three different ones contact me today alone!

Cathy008, Crossmark's own recruiters have offended so many reps, (past, present, and future), they probably had to start using outside headhunters. Unfortunately, that also will come back to haunt them. We all know how badly they operate.

Guess it depends on the experience you have had with Crossmark, worked for them for 11 years, had no issues. The team that I worked was dismantled and I moved on to Advantage.

We do work in CVS doing Goverment Regulartory Audits and Prescription Valdations, safety audits, pricing. But the job that you are all discussing is being done by Crossmark.

Well, it appears that we still have the Beany Baby account, but my closest store is 35 minutes from home, not worth the money. Don't know what I will do at this point. Guess I'll hang on and see if they pick any other work up.

I was wondering what do you merchandisers do to stay healthy in the workplace? I seem to always end up catching a cold about every 2 to 3 months, then when I am not catching a cold, I am maybe catching a mild flu about once or twice a year.

I figure with a regular volume of sick customers or customers sick children that come into the store on any given day, I am a walking magnet for all types of germs . . . so I know that is why I am getting sick on a regular basis. I know before I got into merchandising in 2010, I went from 2007 to 2009 and never had a cold or flu, never took a flu shot, was never sick a day in those 3 years. Then within about 1 1/2 months of being a merchandiser in 2010, BOOM!, I got sick. I donít eat any differently than I did after I got into merchandising . . . but I am tired of getting sick.

Is there anything that you do personally to beef-up on your health to avoid getting sick, by being a merchandiser? Or do you take something on a daily or regular basis that seems to help you avoid getting a cold or a flu? I try never to touch my mouth or eyes or face while working in the stores, and I always wash my hands very good before I eat lunch . . . yet that does not seem to help.

Nick, I don't have that problem, but I was raised playing in dirt and no anti-bacterial soap.

Maybe some multi-vitamin or Vit C?

Maybe it's allergies. There are a lot of scents, perfumes, not to mention dust and that type of thing in stores now a days. Allergies can mimic flu symptoms.

I grew up in a rural area, so playing in the dirt is very familiar. And I'm thankful everyday for it.

Thank you Marla, I will give the vitamins a try.

April, no it is not allergies, because I get sick with a sore throat, fever, have chills, very bad coughing spells, sneezing, nose congestion, runny nose, sneezing spells, lose my sense of smell and taste. When I get sick, the symptoms are always the same . . . where it basically takes me about 2 to 3 full weeks to get over the cold or flu. Though I suffer with allergy problems often, yet I only get a runny nose, nose congestion, and sneezing spells, with no other symptoms. Which I take allergy medicine for that, which works most of the time.

Hi Nick_S,

I am a firm believer in supplements, and have always taken large amounts of Vit C each day...between 4000 & 5000 mg/day. Very, very seldom did I get sick.

I have semi-retired now, having gone through breast cancer, chemo, radiation, the whole bit back in 2013/2014. I still merchandise/mystery shop about 10 hours/month. Since I went through all that stuff, I began taking something called Reishi capsules. It works to boost your immune system. My sister, who is both an RN and Master Herbalist, recommended it to me. I've been taking it for 2 years now...narry a sniffle!! I'm amazed!! I buy it off iherb.com ....not expensive. The brand I buy is "Nature's Way" Reishi capsules. Hope this helps! (I erroneously put the wrong brand in earlier...this is the correct brand...sorry!)

Edited to Add: when I was merchandising 30 hrs/wk, I ALWAYS kept hand sanitizer on hand and used it OFTEN!! We touch who knows WHAT in this business!!!

Nick, could you be wearing yourself down too much? That's what happens to me when I do too much for too long. Feels just like a massive cold, until I sleep for about 10 hrs, then it's gone.

I'm 60 and should know better, but it happens to me often, so I guess I'll never learn.

MarlaB,

I do not think that I am wearing myself down too much, because I just gave up working with a troublesome merchandising company back in late last year . . . so I have been getting a ton of well needed rest and I have been much less stressed since I have had less and a more manageable load of merchandising work all this year thus far. Yet for sure, when I did too much for too long, I got sick much more often.

It appears that CPM has been aquired by Apollo and we need to re-apply for our positions. So much for that promise of all the new business on the horizon.

A friend of mine has stated that most of the CPM dist. managers will be left go. He is not sure where he will end up, if he even stays. He just applied for his SS retirement.
