I would be leery of the application process because it asks for bank account information and it is not on a secure server, though the site states one may email or mail the account information after the application is approved. Just my thoughts.

But then the submission letter after you sign up says this: "If you have not provided your banking account details it can sometimes take longer to offer you work as we require to finalise all details prior to offering any assignments to Sub-contractors."

Typo and all.. haha

Anyhoo, the other weird thing about that company is that it said you can basically have someone else do your shop for you as long as you let the company know, and they pay YOU. I'll hold onto my bank information for now, thank you very much, unless I hear grand things.

I signed up today and asked that my bank account information not be shared. The email address they send in the confirmation email does not work. Just a warning to all. I think I have done something bad.

I have never heard of them. The e-mail address on site comes back as "Undeliverable Mail"

Unknown host: shopper.enquiries@gapbuster.com

I did find this article which makes them seem legit. However; it was written when they were part of the Shop'n Chek company, which they no longer are.

On their job board I can only find jobs for New Zealand and Australia. Does anyone know if they have jobs on the west coast of the USA?

Lisa, where did you find their job board at?

On a side note, all the email addresses on their site come back undeliverable along with the emails in the confirmation they send you after you sign up.

In the "History" section:

In 1994, Phil left his employer and founded GAPbuster in New Zealand, initially a mystery shopping company operating under licence from Shop'n Chek Inc.
...

In 1996, GAPbuster shifted its coporate headquarters to Melbourne, Australia, and continued to develop a rapidly expanding client base.
...

Today GAPbuster is the world's Number 1 mystery shopping company, with a global fieldforce of 35,000. It operates in 21 countries around the globe, having offices in London, Chicago, Hamburg, Melbourne, Copenhagen and Auckland. It works with many of the world's leading businesses - McDonald's, Blockbuster, Shell, Virgin and The Body Shop to name just a few.

In 2003 GAPbuster entered the United States. 2004 will see GAPbuster extend operations into Japan, China and Canada.

However, in "Our Locations" they list no USA offices.

I have never heard of gapbusters but did sign up. I definitely left out the bank account number. I think it would be nuts to give them your bank information not knowing anything about them. Why would they need to know this upfront????

10:25 pm CST - I called the toll free phone number given on the site and inquired about becoming a mystery shopper. Was told that you have to register on line to become one and given the address. I asked if there were assignments available in the US. Told there would be assignments available in the coming months but that I should register now to receive emails when assignments become available.

Hmm, I tried the toll free number this afternoon and all I got was a busy signal. I did some Yahoo! searches and came up with quite a bit of information on the company. I am a little bit more at ease now.

VickiA---I guess I signed up with them and gave them all the information they wanted. I have a username and password and got to their on-site job board. Problem is they hae no jobs in this country yet, but as Angela Burton says, they will soon. Hopefully. And when Angela Burton talks, people listen.

I received an email after signing up saying that I have been accepted and will be emailed assignments when they are in my area. Anyone else hear from them?

Has anyone else had any contact with this company, or has anyone actually performed a shop for them? They have a listing in Portland, OR for shoppers needed, but I don't want to sign up with them if others have had undesireable dealings with them.
TIA

Hmm. The domain is owned by Shop'n Chek...so I'm a little confused here as to why they would post US jobs on Gapbuster instead of on their (Shop'n Chek's) site. I don't know a darn thing about this business except my end of it, so I'm probably just babbling...

Got an email that there are shops posted and so I took a look and am not sure what to think... I guess that if one was right near me I could have free "product" but that's about it.

I have an upcoming job for them for re-imbursement only. It is an easy yes/no with no narrative. Seems easy enough. Their instructions aren't very detailed however- they don't have a shop number or telephone number for the location I am to shop, and they don't have a specific address either, just the street name. I am still required to phone them before I do the shop though
